Thursday 21 September 2017, GCRL’s Secretary Matteo Angioli and Alessandra Impallazzo of Radio Radicale met His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Pisa to donate him a gift on behalf of the Nonviolent Radical Party Transnational Transparty.
The gift was a photo taken in 2009 in Rome picturing a hug between him and the late Marco Pannella. His Holiness recalled the “unique relation” between them and said: “My dear friend, really great friend, great supporter. When we discussed and there was some disagreement he wanted to bite me. Wonderful. According to the Indian tradition, we believe in life after life. So, with my late dear, trusted friend and supporter, because of the unique relation that we developed in this lifetime, it will go life after life. Maybe a hundred lives, or a thousand lives.”
In the final years of his life, Marco Pannella suggested that the Dalai Lama fully deserves be the recipient of a second Nobel Peace Prize.
