Great meeting on Human Rights Day, 10 December 2017, in Lyon, France

International Human Rights Day is celebrated every year on December 10, to mark the anniversary of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

The Nonviolent Radical Party Transnational Transparty (NRPTT) will celebrate this day by organizing a public meeting in Lyon, France, to affirm the centrality and universality of the fundamental principles that underlie the rule of law, which the right to know is one of the fundamental tenets.

Such principles and rights were brutally trampled in Cambodia, with the dissolution on November 16, 2017 of the main opposition party, the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP). The ruling by the Supreme Court is the umpteenth serious violation of political and civil rights perpetrated against three million Cambodian citizens who have been stripped of any legitimate political representation.

The purpose of the meeting is to remind the initiators of the Paris Peace Agreements signed in 1991 – and co-chaired by France – that we urge the full and complete implementation of the said agreements and that each member of the NRPTT across the world must now be considered as an honorary member of the CNRP, in solidarity with our Cambodian democratic friends.

The meeting will be held at 10 am at the Pagoda of Pusignan, 124 route Nationale, 69330 Pusignan, Lyon, France.

Among the speakers:

Sam Rainsy former CNRP President
Saumura Tioulong MP CNRP
André Gattolin Senator LREM
Matteo Angioli Presidence NRPTT
