Meeting with Justice Minister of Italy

Earlier today 8 March at 11 a delegation of the Nonviolent Radical Party transnational and transparty met with the Italian Justice Minister Andrea Orlando. It was present Matteo Angioli, secretary general of the Global Committee for the Rule of Law – Marco Pannella.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the delegation Rita Bernardini said: “A long and positive meeting,  which leads me to halt for 10 days my hunger strike. Now we need to see what will happen in Parliament in terms of the important reform of the prison system. We attach great importane to this issue because it reflects the work that has been done also thanks to Minister Orlando on criminal justice at large and we want to see it progress.”

At the end of the meeting Rita Bernardini delivered to Minister Orlando “the book of nonviolence”, which collects the signatures of some twenty thousand inmates who fasted for two days, in support of the Radical Party campaign.

The next event is scheduled for April 16, namely the ‘Easter march for an amnesty, for justice and freedom’. The march will start from the prison of Regina Coeli in Rome and will reach the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square.
