Continùa el compromiso del Comité Global para el Estado de Derecho “Marco Pannella” sobre Venezuela, en el marco de la iniciativa política a favor de la transición democrática del país sudamericano. La semana pasada, junto con algunos representantes de la diáspora venezolana, el Comité Global ha contribuido a la organización de una serie de eventos parlamentarios con motivo de la visita a Roma de la Honorable Mariela Magallanes, diputada de la Asamblea Nacional, unico y legítimo parlamento venezolano.
El miércoles 29 de enero se ha organizado una rueda de prensa, a la que han asistido algunos parlamentarios italianos que pudieron escuchar de la viva voz de la Representante democrata venezolana importantes actualizaciones sobre la grave emergencia que ocurre en el paìs sudamericano. En una previa reunion en la Camera de Diputados, Magallanes ha informado a los parlamentarios presentes sobre el progreso de los acontecimientos políticos internos venezolanos a principios de enero, así como sobre la importante gira internacional realizada en los ultimos dias del mes por Juan Guaidò, presidente de la Asamblea Nacional y por lo tanto presidente interino de la República Venezolana de acuerdo con la Constitución.
Finalmente, la diputada caribeña ha invitado a los parlamentarios presentes a emprender nuevas iniciativas políticas para que Italia se una al gran grupo de países democráticos que durante un año han reconocido al presidente legítimo de Venezuela en la figura de Guaidò, encargado de liderar un gobierno de transición hasta nuevas elecciones presidenciales libres y transparentes.
Tras la reunión privada, en la que surgió, gracias a la intervención del Diputado Battilocchio (Forza Italia), la idea de formar un intergrupo parlamentario transversal sobre el tema, se realizó la conferencia de prensa, comenzada con la intervención del Diputado Delmastro Delle Vedove (Hermanos de Italia), y durante la cual Magallanes, el Senador Alfieri (jefe de grupo del Partido Democrata en Comision de Asuntos Exteriores, Senado) y el Diputado Perego (Forza Italia) han expresado sus posiciónes sobre la necesidad de que el parlamento italiano traiga nuevamente el tema de la transición La democracia de Venezuela en la agenda del debate político nacional, en un momento en que la crisis en el país latinoamericano se está volviendo cada dìa más grave, y el tiempo para el régimen de Maduro, por muchas razones, parece estar cada vez más cerca del final.
La Diputada Magallanes también participò a “Emergencia de Venezuela“, entrevista-debate especial en Radio Radicale. A la entrevista-debate asistieron Laura Harth, Andrea Merlo y el embajador Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata, también presidente del Comité Global para el estado de derecho.
La actividad de la semana que acaba de finalizar se coloca en continuidad con las iniciativas llevadas a cabo en los últimos meses por el Comité Global y su miembro reciente, el Diputado venezolano Armando Armas también miembro de la Asamblea Nacional (y recientemente nombrado presidente de la Comisión Permanente de Relaciones Exteriores).
La idea de formar un grupo transversal de coordinación parlamentaria centrada en los temas de Venezuela y la transición democrática de Caracas había sido lanzada por el propio Armas, en particular durante una importante conferencia organizada por el Comité Global y el Partido Radical Nonviolento Transnacional Transpartido en el Centro de Estudios Americanos en la mitad de noviembre. Por lo tanto, el Comité Global está satisfecho con la posibilidad cada vez más concreta de que un grupo de parlamentarios italianos lidere iniciativas y actividades parlamentarias concretas destinadas a estimular al gobierno italiano a cambiar su posición sobre el complicado escenario del país sudamericano y, por lo tanto, estará feliz y listo de contribuir a las actividades ya en las próximas semanas.

Press conference with Venezuelan MP Mariela Magallanes at the Chamber of Deputies of Italy
The commitment of the Global Committee for the Rule of Law “Marco Pannella” (GCRL) continues in favour of the democratic transition in Venezuela. During the Roman visit of Honourable Mariela Magallanes as a member of the Asamblea Nacional, the GCRL contributed to the organisation of a series of political events, alongside the support of some Venezuelan representatives.
On the 29th of January, the first press conference was held. Thanks to the statement of the South American Democratic Representative, a number of Italian parliamentarians had the chance to acquire relevant information about the situation of emergency in Caracas. Magallanes informed all MPs about Venezuela’s national political events of the beginning of January, as well as on the important international tour carried out by Juan Guaidò, the current President of the National Assembly and ad interim President of Venezuela according to the Constitution. The Caribbean MP invited present Italian parliamentarians to undertake new political initiatives, with the hope that Italy would join the vast number of democratic countries that recognise Guaidò as the legitimate President of Venezuela able to lead the country to a transitional government until new, free and transparent presidential elections take place.
During the conference, the idea of creating a ‘transversal partnership’ between Italy and Venezuela was reinforced by the intervention of Mr Alessandro Battilocchio (Forza Italia). As a result of the meeting, Hon. Delmastro Delle Vedove (Fratelli d’Italia) inaugurated a new conference during which Magallanes, Senator Alfieri (leader of the Foreign Affairs Group PD, Senate) and Sen. Perego (Forza Italia) expressed their position on the need to include the issue of Venezuela’s democratic transition into the agenda of national political debate. The crisis of the Latin American country is becoming more and more serious and, for many reasons, the Maduro’s regime seems to be getting closer to its end.
The Hon. Magallanes was also the guest of the special discussion “Venezuela Emergency” on Radio Radical. Laura Harth, Andrea Merlo, and Ambassador, as well as President of the Global Committee for the Rule of Law Giulio Terzi, took part to the interview-debate.
The activity of the week just closed is in line with the initiatives carried out in the last months by the GCRL and Mr Armando Armas, member of the National Assembly and recently appointed President of the Permanent Commission of Foreign Policy.
Last November, the GCRL and the Nonviolent Radical Party Transnational Trasnparty arranged an important conference at the Centre for American Studies. It was on that occasion that Armas suggested the idea of forming a parliamentary coordination group that would focus on the issues of Venezuela and the democratic transition of Caracas.
The Global Committee for the Rule of Law is therefore glad to support parliamentary activities and initiatives aimed at stimulating a change in the position of the Italian government about the complicated scenario of Venezuela.
