10 March demonstration in Geneva: “Europe Stands With Tibet”

On Saturday 10 March, a delegation of the Nonviolent Radical Party Transnational Transnational (NRPTT) and the Global Committee for the Rule of Law “Marco Pannella” (GCRL) will join the event “EUROPE STANDS WITH TIBET” in Geneva, Switzerland.

On the 59th anniversary of the Lhasa uprising against the Chinese occupation, which the Tibetans celebrate annually all over the world, pro-Tibet organizations and the Tibetan communities of Europe will gather in Geneva from 1100 at the Jardin des Anglais and will march towards the UN headquarters where the arrival is expected at 1630.

Organizers and sponsors of the event, including the International Campaign for Tibet, the Italy-Tibet Association and different Tibetan communities, will be joined by the NRPTT with Ambassador Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata and Matteo Angioli, respectively President and Secretary General of the GCRL, Laura Harth, Representative of the NRPTT at the UN, Sergio Rovasio and Emiliano Silvestri, activists and coordinators of the activities of the NRPTT in Turin and Milan.

The NRPTT firmly supports the proposals for autonomy and defense of the identity of the Tibetan people, the so-called “middle way”, as put forward by H. H. the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile which promotes the continuous search for dialogue with Chinese authorities against all forms of violence and repression that sadly are still occurring in Tibet against the local population.

At the rally scheduled in front of the UN headquarters will take the floor Ambassador Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata, the Mayor of Geneva Rémy Pagani, Thomas Mann MEP, pro-Tibet MPs and Norman Baker, former Home Office Minister of the United Kingdom and honorary member of the Global Committee for the Rule of Law “Marco Pannella”.
